How To Make Bokeh

Roseonthegrey gave her secret of how to make bokeh. It's awesome, isn't it?

These photos were taken with the Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens at F1.8. Christmas lights were hung with a red blanket as the background. First photo is "focused" while the second photo is "unfocused." Unfocused Christmas lights appear as bokeh "bubbles", and, depending on your lens's aperture and vignetting, can also appear as hexagons, etc.

This techniques does work best with apertures wider F2.0. With apertures narrower than F3.5, you would have to increase the distance between the camera and light source significantly.

Happy playing !!

Texture by Jesh de Rox - Part 5

There are so many textures sold through online, but it doesn't mean you have to buy all textures. However, if there are some textures that interest you, you can decide to buy or not (if you can afford as well).

Tutorial - How To Apply Textures - Part 3

by: flickr.com/photos/bpuppy
Bpuppy wrote this tutorial on his flickr. Hopefully, this is very helpful for all of you.

The great benefit I love about textures that it gives your photo a more artistic feel but if it is not done properly the textures will add distraction to your photo.

First thing first:
1.Textures do not work for every photo so do not feel bad if the texture does not work on a particular photo.
2. Sometimes you can spend hours playing textures so be patient.
3. You can use multiple textures on a photo but don't over do it.

On to the tutorial.

Here is the beginning photo

Here is the final results of the texture on the photo

1. Open the photo that you desire to use the texture on.

2. Open the texture that you desire to use.
a. The texture that I used can be found here:

3. Copy and paste the texture on the photo.
a. Select All (Ctrl+A) on the texture
b. Copy (Ctrl+C) the texture

3. Select the photo

4. Paste (Ctrl+V) the texture on the photo.

5. Resize (Ctrl+T) the texture over the photo.

5. You have various ways to blend the texture on the photo I generally go with 3 blend modes:
a. Multiply – dark grunge look
b. Screen – old worn page look
c. Overlay – antique grain look

6. For this photo I decided to go with the Multiply blend mode.

7. Now adjust the Opacity level of the texture layer to bring the subject in the photo out more. In this photo I set the opacity level to 82%.

8. Finally I generally remove or lower the texture blend over the subject.
a. Create a layer mask on the texture layer.

b. Select the paint brush tool.
c. Make sure the foreground color is black to remove the texture completely or gray to lighten the blend of the texture layer.
d. Paint in the layer mask the area you want to remove or lower the blend of the texture.

That's it. Enjoy!!

All right, go to check out: Stuckincustom

If you can afford to buy for it, yeah, it's up to you, want or not to buy.
If you want free textures, you can go to Deviantart, and you can write " textures" in search box.
